Additional Information: Admission
All inquiries regarding admission should be directed to the registrar. The Superintendent makes final decisions. Evangelical Missionary Children
In keeping with the intention of the original purpose as stated in the Articles of Incorporation, Faith Academy usually accepts the children of missionary families. Children with English as their second language, wishing to enroll must achieve a minimum acceptable score on a standardized English proficiency test for the age of the child and the grade level in which he/she plans to enter. Transfer students are accepted provisionally until satisfactory evidence of honorable dismissal is received from the school previously attended. Other Children
A limited number of children from non-missionary families have been given special permission to attend Faith. Parents are interviewed by the registrar before acceptance. Transfer from other schools within the Philippines is discouraged. Christian commitment of parents, availability of teachers, and classroom space are some of the factors considered in accepting non-missionary children. The children should rank with the average or the above average of their class. Kindergarten and First Grade Entrance
A child entering Kindergarten must meet the following requirements: - Be accepted by the teaching and counseling staff through:
- Required attendance in the pre-kindergarten sessions if living in Metro Manila at that time. Pre-kindergarten is during second semester.
- Evaluation and testing during his/her first three weeks of kindergarten if not living in Metro Manila at the time of pre-kindergarten.
- Reach his/her fifth birth date on or before September 1 of the year enrollment is anticipated.
Before entering First Grade, a child who did not attend Faith Academy the previous school year must meet the following requirements: - Be evaluated and tested as ready by the teaching and counseling staff in the first three weeks of attendance.
- Reach his/her sixth birthday on or before September 1 of the year enrollment is anticipated.
 New and Transferring Elementary Students
Before entering Grades 2-5, a child who did not attend Faith Academy the previous school year must meet the following requirements: - Be evaluated and tested for grade placement by the teaching staff and counseling staff in the first three weeks of attendance.
- Make arrangements for past academic records to be sent to Faith Academy. The school accepts hand carried records brought from home countries.
 Handicapped Children
Children with physical or emotional handicaps will be accepted as personnel are available to make it possible for such students to receive profit from a normal classroom experience. Students with learning disabilities will be accepted as long as they can profit from their classroom experience while receiving additional remedial and supportive instruction from specialists. Specific guidelines are detailed in "Admission Guidelines for Students Needing Special Help." (Administrative Policy Handbook AP 1.02 may be requested) Late Entrance
Late entrance will be determined by the following Board policies: - It is expected that any child entering classes be present for the opening of the school. (Reasons: (a) social adjustment becomes increasingly difficult as time goes by, (b) important concepts and the basic foundations of each class or subject are laid during these early days, (c) everyday routines are established early in the quarter).
- A high school student will not normally enter classes after the end of the first quarter. Any exception to this will be based upon a parent conference and a principal’s recommendation to the Superintendent.
- Grade placement will be made after testing, review of previous school records and recommendation by the Guidance Department. A late arriving student may be required to repeat work.
- Students entering high school after the third week of a semester will not be given credit for the semester.
- A student missing fifteen (15) days in one semester and thirty (30) days in one year will be considered a candidate for failure in the respective semester/year.
- Specific Guidelines for Elementary Students.
It is in the best interest of your child to be present starting with the first day of the school year and to complete the entire school year with his/her class. Children arriving late may be placed in a lower grade if they are not able to work successfully in the anticipated grade level. Teachers, in consultation with the counselor and principal, may recommend that children who have missed too much school for any reason be assigned to the next grade level with the stipulation that he/she be under observation during the first weeks of the next school year to determine whether the child is indeed ready for that grade. Please note: Guideline #5 above applies to all students K-12. Transfer Students
Secondary students who anticipate enrolling in grades 6-12 should examine carefully the section of "Curriculum" before making application, being certain that a transfer will not cause the repetition of a subject other than Bible or Physical Education. Parents should be sure to request that records be sent to Faith Academy from the school their children are leaving. Schedule of School Day
